He who rests under the Shadow of the Almighty (English written/spoken)
He who rests under the Shadow of the Almighty
He who dwells in the Secret place of the Most High and who rests under the Shadow of the Almighty, he says: my refuge and my fortress is in the Lord, my God, in Whom I trust. (Psalms 91:1-2)
Jesus Christ is about to come back and Jesus spoke in Mathew 24 about the signs of His Coming and the birth pains. We can clearly see these things beginning to happen, with the Corona virus and now also tensions in the Ukraine between East and West. The Lord has clearly shown me that there will come a conflict between East and West in the future, and the West will loose, but I don’t know when it will begin.
But Jesus said that when we see these things begin to happen, we shall not be gripped by fear. no, Jesus said we shall look up and lift up our heads, because our deliverance is drawing near. (Luke 21:28).
We see the beginning of the birth pains, but we fear not, no, we can even rejoice, because it means that the Coming of Jesus Christ is close.
Because The children of God have nothing to fear! Being in Jesus Christ we are already safe, secure. But I believe that it’s very important that we learn to trust God and that we build our faith upon the things which cannot be shaken, upon the truths revealed in the Bible, the Word of God. Therefore this sermon will be about the security that we have in Jesus Christ and about trusting God.
Our Kingdom, the Kingdom of God, is invisible. And Our God and His Mighty Angels are also invisible, at least most of the time. Yes, sometimes an Angel or even God Himself can reveal Himself to us. I know some people who have seen an Angel of God. I have never seen an Angel but I have, on two different occasions, seen the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, all by the grace of God, because the Lord at those times opened up my eyes to see in to the Spiritual World, and both times with my physical eyes closed.
most of the time we can’t see the Spiritual Reality, unless God helps us and opens up our spiritual eyes. But still it’s there, surrounding us all the time. and even though there also are evil spirits, and they also have some power, the Angels of God, who are for us, are much more in number and also much more powerful. And of course we also have God Almighty Himself on our side, And before God, every enemy has to flee. this is a truth we should never forget.
In 2 Kings Elisha is totally surrounded by human enemies, and his servant cries out: my master, what shall we do? But Elisha was calm, and replied: don’t be afraid, those who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha prayed for his servant and the Lord opened up his eyes and he could see horses and chariots of fire around Elisha, and after another short prayer from Elisha, the Lord struck the Syrian warriors with blindness, and they couldn’t do anything.
That’s what The Lord could do then, but Jesus Christ is the Same, yesterday, today and forever. What Jesus did yesterday He can do today. And the New Covenant is not less than the Old one, on the contrary, we have been given new and better promises! Hebrews 8:6 says: Jesus has obtained a more excellent ministry, just as He is also a Mediator of a better Covenant, established on better promises. (Hebrews 8:6). Yes, God is the same, but the Covenant is better.
And Ephesians says: blessed is the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who in Christ, blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly places. Amazing words! and later on it says that God has made us sit in the Heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 1:3 and 2:4-10)
Tell me, can we be more blessed than that? The Bible says that We are sitting in the lap, in the knees, of Jesus Christ, resting in the Arms of God Almighty. Please tell me: can there be a more secure place than that? The answer to both of these questions is no!
Noah was a righteous man, and after he entered the Arch, God closed the door behind him, and God has done the same thing with us. We have gone into the Arch of Salvation, we are in Christ, and Jesus dwells inside of us and God the Father has closed the Door behind us. We are surrounded by Jesus Christ on every side and totally secure.
The precondition for this is however that we walk in the Will of God, that we follow Jesus Christ. No one is free from faults or sins. It’s written that if we say that we don’t have sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8). The teachings that are very popular today about a believer in Jesus Christ not at all is to be called a sinner, not even a sinner saved by grace, is wrong. If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make Him a liar and His Word is not in us (1 John 1:10). No, the Word of God and all of our experience of walking with Jesus is clear: we can not be free from sin here on earth. We are sinners saved by grace, sinners under the Amazing and Wonderful Grace of God, and that’s something amazing. I love being under the Grace of God.
But Jesus also said: if you love Me, you will keep My commandments (John 14:15). When we love Jesus, we want to keep His Commandments, and when we walk with Jesus, we obey His Commandments and love Jesus. And we walk in the Light, and whenever we fail or sin, we turn back to God, confess and repent, and if we walk like that, then there is an amazing security for us who believe in Christ.
And When we fear the Lord, His Amazing Grace will be with us, surround us like a Mighty Hand and a Shield. Psalms 103: For as the Heavens are high above the earth, so great is His Mercy toward those who fear Him. (Psalms 103). Stop and think for a moment how high isn’t the Heavens above the earth?
The only thing that the Bible tells us to fear is God. It doesn’t tell us to fear sickness, war, accidents, not even the Devil. We should only fear God! And when we fear God, we don’t have to fear anything or anyone. Then the Grace of God will be so great over us that no one can touch us, unless God allows it. And if God allows persecution, sickness or anything else come into our lives, Our Beloved Father has given it to us for a reason which actually is good, even when we don’t understand why, because all things work together for good for those who love God!
God gives Grace to those who fear Him, and He gives grace to the humble. God resists the proud, but gives Grace to the humble. And When we bow humbly under the Mighty Hand of God, then God will fight for us and may exalt us in His Own time. (1 Peter 5:5-6).
When the Lord has shown me that difficult times are to come over North America and Western Europe, He has told me not to fear, but to prepare. And I believe that in the days which are to come, it’s very important that we prepare by remembering and learning that Our God is Almighty, and God is in full control. The church has throughout history always taught that God Is Sovereign, Almighty and Allpowerful, but that teaching is being challenged today.
A very famous preacher from the USA called Bill Johnson has said: God is in charge, but He is not in control. He has left that over to us.
I can fully assure you that it’s completely wrong, and it’s very important that you see and understand that it’s false. Because when things are beginning to shake around me and everything seems to be chaos, How can I then trust God if He is not in control?
When we ourselves are in times of personal testing or when the birth pains come upon most of the earth, we need to trust and remember that God is in full control.
The Lord gave David Wilkerson many difficult prophecies about North America and the church, and once he reacted by some fear when the Lord showed him something scary, but then the Spirit immediately said: God has everything under control!
And that’s also what the Word of God says, Because Jesus said: to Me has been given all authority, all power, in Heaven and on earth. If Jesus has all power and authority, then He also has things under control. Whatever lays ahead of us, God will be with us and for us. We have nothing, absolutely nothing, to fear.
when the world soon is in the birth pains before Jesus comes back, we need to trust that God is Almighty. And no matter if everything seems to be in chaos, we should still remember and trust that God is still in full control, and not a sparrow falls to the ground without God’s permission, and not a single hair on our heads are to be lost. I believe it’s a good idea to start speaking theses words of truth to your heart already now. Because Everything lays in the Hands of God Almighty. We can rest fully in that.
Today there is preaching, especially in the West, that gives too much attention to the Devil and his servants, and I have met followers of Jesus Christ in Sweden who speak more about them than about Jesus. They go everywhere chasing the demons, and I almost would like to ask: do you follow the demons or Jesus? Jesus said that what the Heart is full of, the mouth will speak, so when we follow and love Jesus, we will speak mostly about Him!
This preaching says that we have to fight the Devil all the time, bind him and rebuke him, but it’s a dangerous preaching, because it takes away our rest and trust and strength in God. Yes, it’s true that we have an Enemy, and we should be aware of that, and sometimes we have to say a strong word to them so they will know their place.
but that’s only occasionally, it’s not every day, it’s not even every week. We don’t have to fight our enemies all the time, nor our earthly nor our spiritual enemies, because God is fighting for us! And trust me, He does it a lot better than we do! You and me are no match for the Devil, but trust me, The Lord Is! When the Lord Jesus Christ Himself comes walking, he will run and hide!
I believe that it’s more important than ever that we learn to rest in Christ, to trust Him, that we have a resting faith, not a fighting one. It’s written that the Lord shall fight for us, and we shall hold our peace. And in Isaiah: In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength. And God has said: be still and know that I Am God!
If we run around chasing the demons, we will be totally exhausted. Let God do the fighting, He is much better and much stronger, He doesn’t sleep nor slumber, and you hold your peace!
Then some people read from 1 John (5:19) and say that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. That’s true, but it doesn’t mean that God rules in the Kingdom of God, it means in the Spiritual realm, but that the Devil rules on earth, as some preachers teach. No, Jesus said that to Him has been given all the power and authority in Heaven and on earth.
No, what it means is that this world is under the Dominion of sin, death and that many people are slaves to sin and evil, striving under the Devil and bound in sin and lies. That’s sad but true. but God is still Almighty and in full control so no one can touch us without God’s permission.
Read the Book of Job, how God gave permission to the Devil to test Job, and how He gave strict instructions what he could do and not do to Job, and he didn’t and couldn’t go beyond those restrictions. God is Almighty. We can trust Him fully! He knows what He is doing and why!
As believers in Jesus Christ we have a wonderful future and a hope, a place we call Heaven. No matter what happens around us we always have a future and a hope. And We have a full security.
And Our security is built upon the fact that Our God is Almighty, and He is our Father and Our friend, and we are His beloved children.
But it’s most of all built upon what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. What Jesus Christ did upon the cross can never be destroyed, and when our faith is built upon that, nothing can shake us.
Today many Christians build their faith upon emotions, upon exciting spiritual experiences in the churches, but I don’t think it’s going to stand the test of time.
Yes, we all have emotions and they can be good, but we can’t build our faith on that.
The only thing that is going to stand the test of time is a faith that is built upon what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross and the Word of God. Jesus said that Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall by no means pass away.
Our faith should have its foundation upon the cross, and the center of our faith is not what God is doing today or what we feel or see around us, but what God did 2000 years ago. Yes, it’s wonderful when we see the Hand of God moving and we see blessing in our lives and success in our ministry, but those things come and go, but what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross doesn’t come and go, it stands.
It’s written in Isaiah: To me this is like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
never to rebuke you again.
Even if the mountains be shaken! and if the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken! nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
I don’t think that you can find stronger words about the Faithfulness of God and our security in Christ than that.
And What God has done for us through Jesus Christ was not a quick or hasty response from God, taken by surprise over what Adam did. No, God foreknew it. Ephesians says that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world,
so that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons of Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His Will, to the praise of the Glory of His Grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. Imagine, What God has done for us in Christ has its foundation before the creation of earth.
And Jesus said on the cross: it’s finished! Being in Jesus Christ we are saved, by grace through faith, and we are placed without blame before God the Father, fully accepted by Him.
And Jesus is Emanuel, God with us. Isaiah 41:10 says: fear not, for I Am with you. Be not dismayed, for I Am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with the Right Hand of My Righteousness.
If God Almighty is with me, who is there to fear? And If God be for me, who can be against me? And if God is upholding me with His Right Hand, who can bring me down? The answer is: No one!
Jesus is in us through the Holy Spirit, and no matter what lays ahead of us, God is Faithful, and He will be with us and for us. God always has a plan, always has a Way through the trials, God is never ever taken by surprise. Jesus never stands in Heaven wondering: what’s happening? I didn’t know this was coming? What should I do?
No, God always has a plan for our lives, and God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, because of the Power of the Holy Spirit which is at work in us.
We can meet the future with full assurance that whatever lays ahead of us, God is with us and for us. We can rest fully in His Abundance of Grace, and let Him lead us, use us, and we shall be at rest, hold our peace, and let The Lord fight for us.
If you have listened to me today and you don’t belong to Jesus, I advise you to fold your hands and pray to Jesus and ask Jesus to save you.
And if you already believe in Jesus Christ, I advise you to pray that the Lord draws you closer to Him, that He gives you more of His Holy Spirit, to spend more time reading the Word, and being more in prayer.
If you do these things, Then you can meet the future with a full assurance and trust that God will take care of you. You can be at rest, at peace, Because he, who dwells in the Secret place of the Most High and who rests under the Shadow of the Almighty, he says: my refuge and my fortress is in the Lord, my God, in Whom I trust. Hallelujah. Amen.
